On January 22nd, Nebraska Land Trust staff traveled to Denver for the annual meetings of the Partnership of Rangeland Trusts. The Partnership of Rangeland Trusts (PORT), of which NLT is a member, is an alliance of agriculture-focused conservation organizations dedicated to protecting America’s working farms and ranches. PORT represents the interests of working lands and agricultural producers within the broader land trust community. Over the past two decades, its members have collectively conserved more than 3 million acres across 12 Midwestern and Western states, serving over 2,000 families through 1,874 easements.

PORT focuses on increasing the effectiveness of agricultural land conservation legislation, facilitating information sharing among members, expanding funding sources, and improving landowner awareness of conservation tools. By advocating for the conservation of working lands and western heritage, PORT strives to benefit future generations.

For Nebraskans, this means we have a larger collective voice advocating for programs and policies that support the land conservation goals of agricultural producers in our state.
